blue it up and measure its contact pattern. hitting it with a rubber hammer? good question. this is most likely due to a twist in the saddle. The cast iron could have yielded and it won't slide very well even with a thicker way oil than usual.

Not sure if lever type parts fit in star handle type housing, maybe.įirst off before you mess with the saddle. The problem with star handle is it rotates while apron is engaged, so getting it unlocked/disengaged can be a trick when sneaking up on end of cut. I disconnect long feed by pulling spring handle of selector and just moving out of long feed to neutral. I have a star type, on long feed i leave clutch engaged always. Star handle is prettier, but lever type works nicer if you're trying to feather the clutch, they are both for clutch engage/disengage. Might need to shim down apron from saddle if too tight. So changing the apron housing I'd want to check the apron to crossfeed gear lash even more. Even with the same apron I'd be inclined to check gear backlash if i changed crossfeed screw.

The one I have has the cam style lever for engaging the feed and the full up apron has a star shaped nut/knob that you tighten to engage the feed.Īny help you could offer would be greatly appreciated. My question is will all of the heavy 10 aprons interchange? I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to replace the apron and I've got a couple leads on on a couple of them, one is just the casting and the other is a full up apron.
